STL’s Arts & Education Council prepping for Jan. 22 bash

Entertainment has been lined up and the tables are being set for the Arts and Education Council’s 2018 St. Louis Arts Awards.

Getting the nod later this month for work well done will be STLers who have achieved “artistic excellence” and “enrich St. Louis’ arts and cultural community.”

The winners are music educator Johnetta Haley and The Muny’s Dennis Reagan, both for lifetime achievement; Gene Dobbs Bradford of Jazz St. Louis, for excellence in the arts; and the Grand Center Arts Academy’s Keith Tyrone Williams, as educator of the year.

Also up for recognition are the St. Louis Fashion Fund, Art on the Square and World Wide Technology Inc.

The performers’ roll aims to rock with performances by jazz violinist Regina Carter, accompanied by pianist Peter Martin; Stan Ford, American-Austrian classical pianist and a former student of honoree Haley; and Innervision Dance Theatre, under the direction of honoree Williams. Actor Ken Page returns as emcee.

The soiree begins at 5 p.m. Jan. 22 in the Khorassan Ballroom at the Chase Park Plaza.
