‘Farm Hands’ talk, book signing scheduled

BROCKPORT — Tom Rivers, a staff writer at The Daily News, is scheduled to talk at Lift Bridge Books, 45 Main St., at 7 p.m. April 10.

Rivers will give a presentation on migrant workers and the local farm industry. He will also sign copies of his book, “Farm Hands.”

The 168-page book highlights his experiences working at 13 local farms in 2008. The jobs were part of a series that Rivers wrote for The Daily News and expanded for his book.

The self-published book was released in March 2010 and has had multiple printings and earned recognition from agriculture organizations and at book festivals.
